DIAGEO SPECIAL RELEASES – 2016

Diageo Special Release Bottles are a line of prestige products launched by Diageo every year in October. It consists of bottles specially selected for this serie.

The whisky enthusiast are starting to get a sneak preview of this years line-up. The first bottles, which did not include big surprises, were made known at the end of March, couple of days before the famous Feis Ile Festival.

This first group included:

  • Lagavulin 12 years old (2016)” – 57,7%
  • Caol Ila 15 years old Unpeated” – 61,5%
  • Port Ellen 37 years old (1978)” – 55,2%, 2940 bottles
  • Brora 38 years old” – 48,6%, 2984 bottles
  • Auchroisk 25 years old” – 51.2%, 3954 bottle

Lagavulin, Caol Ila, Brora and Port Ellen were not surprising as they have been on this list for the past couple of years. On the other hand the mystery is that how many more bottles Port Ellen and Brora still left as they have shut down their operations almost 16 years ago.

We received information about a second group of bottles very recently which will be addition to the previous list. The second group consisted of:

  • “Cambus 40 Year Old” – 52.7%, 1812 bottle
  • “Linkwood” 37 Year Old – 50.3%, 6114 bottles
  • “Glenkinchie 24 Year Old” – 57.2%, 5928 bottles
  • “Mannochmore 25 Year Old” – 53.4%, 3954 bottles

In addition to these bottles we also got a news from Lagavulin that they would be presenting a 25 year old bottle. Later on it was stated that this bottle would only be available through a charity event that will be held later this year.
